Seen and Heard
By Ellen Younkins
I'm brash because I'm getting old
and I feel that my story must be told.
I was young and dared not speak,
my timid voice was just a squeak.
I was a child, quiet then, never heard.
and now I know that's quite absurd.
My voice is loud now and I will opine
on many subjects that are on my mind.
That little girl who never said a word
is a grownup now and will be heard.
