Blog Troubles
Crabby Old Lady is aware some images - LIKE THE TOP BANNER, among others - are missing from Time Goes By and her knickers are in a big-time twist over it.
On Friday, Crabby worked through an issue with her domain registrar and as soon as that problem was resolved, this one occurred. Crabby assumes it is similar to pulling one brick out of a stack - the whole thing comes tumbling down.
There is no tech help at the registrar until Monday morning west coast time, but Crabby has jiggered a few things and now, although the site looks odd and some links from elsewhere to TGB may not function for the time-being, the site does most of what it should. You can navigate around the blog and leave comments, etc.
Crabby is sorry for the inconvenience and appreciates your patience.

Hi Ronni
I know you don't usually blog on the week-end but I stopped by (just in case) and was I surprised!
Looks like "comments" are working ok. I'll stop by on Sunday just to see if you are totally back in business.
Like you said, you probably won't be straightened out until Monday. See you then. ;-)

It's a chore, isn't it? Sorry, Ronni, and I hope you can get it fixed soon. Doesn't seem like your place here without it :~(

Go sit on your deck and put your feet up. Read a lovely book. Ahhh.
It all doesn't matter but it all is annoying. Sigh.

Can appreciate your frustration as I've been having off and on Internet connection problems that first started last Nov. Then had a long period when everything seemed to work okay until a few weeks ago. Commenting on other blogs, posting on my blog inconsistent. The past few days have been okay, but...I wonder. Modem problem was presumably eliminated, then reportedly more likely a line problem and phone company been out once, fixing exterior "old" wiring. Last eruption of problem the word again was it was modem related. Crazymaking!

Bummer. I recently switched from the very cheap university dial-up to dsl. Whole 'nother animal. I insisted on installing myself, and succeeded. After a couple of weeks of smooth sailing, I tried to get fancy and must have royally screwed it up, because it hasn't worked properly since that little attack of hubris...

This will drive you into a state of frenzy faster than anything Ronni...a frustrating side effect of having the Internet as your shot in the arm everyday.

Ah, but it looks as though the CSS has returned (at least on the front page).

I am beginning to understand just how dependent I have become to the internet. My pc was down for two days (bad power supply) and amazingly enough, we survived.
Face it. We're all slaves to technology.

I was concerned about you and TGB over the last few days when it was acting up.
I am glad TGB is on the road to full recovery.

No worries! Happens to the best of us now and then. Take a deep breath. Now breath out... aaaaahhhhhh.......

Ahhh, good, you're back. I had to refer to the estimable TGB on my recent BlogHer post as "temporarily offline at this writing." Now that you're beaming back to us on our monitors, I added your link in the post comments.
And, the post? I covered the discover of the heinous elder hate groups of Facebook:

Thank you and Nicole Freydburg for bringing these shameful activities into the open.
I'll be covering elder issues on BlogHer and will do my very best to fill your mighty shoes as the new Contributing Editor on this beat.
All the best from a longtime fan.

My goodness. Crabby did not expect all this commiseration - or even any comments at all. She just wanted to let you know why her blog has gone wonky and she forgot to mention that there are no individual URLs on other pages.
Thank you all for the hand-holding. Crabby expects TGB to return to its normal state sometime Monday afternoon or evening. Meanwhile, The Elder Storytelling Place is fine and there will be a regular Monday morning post here.

Crabby, the strange part, is that if you click "show the background image", your banner is right there, at http://www.timegoesby.net/weblog/images/tgb_banner.jpg

Yes, blogs do go wonky, and sometimes do return working just fine with no explanation at all. For a while I used "wired" which wasn't. Open Diary stays up most of the time as does blogspot. As we move away from Windows 95 and 98, the world stays running better longer. Perhaps your site is using something new like Vista. It's Tuesday now, and I'm glad to find you up again.
