Same to you Ronni. Of course I'm not Jewish but I have always loved my Jewish friends and their traditions. Any peace loving person and religion is a-ok in my book. Happy Holidays to all. May the recession bottom in 2009 with visions of recovery soon.

Thanks, Ronni, and may you also have a joyous holiday season.

Best wishes for a Joyous Chanukah to you and Ollie and Crabby! May the next eight days and beyond bring health, wealth and happiness!

Best wishes indeed for longer days and for freedom! We lit the first candle last night with family -- and welcomed the solstice as well.

Folks might enjoy this non-traditional celebratory song:

Each Chanukah we glorify brave Judah Maccabeus
Who had the courage to defy Antiochus, and free us,
Yet it is not fair that we should forget
Mrs. Maccabeus, whom we owe a debt.
She mixed it, and fixed it
She poured it into a bowl
You may not guess, but it was the latkes
That gave brave Judah a soul.
More here.

Ronni and Ollie and Crabby and Folks - Chag Samayach - Happy Holiday - and Don't Let The Lights Go Out they lasted for so many years...this song applies to all of us!!!!

Thank you for blogging about fabulous Hannukah. Borrowing from janinsanfran's comment and link for more information, I'm offering my Hanukkah: first victory for freedom of worship. Crafting this part-history, part-Q&A post, I learned a ton even after decades' lighting candles, reciting blessings, singing songs, and spinning dreidls!

We won't' let the light go out!

Happy Hanukkah to you, Ollie and Crabby!! Are you doing anything special?

kenju...

"Just" lighting the candles each night. For some reason, I particularly like holidays that involve candles.

Ronni,
May you go from strength to strength! Thank you for creating this forum - which enLIGHTens every day!

Ronni, thanks for remembering those of us who celebrate Chanukah. It is truly our festival of lights. May all of us enjoy a new year filled with light, joy, health, and hope

Happy Hanukkah! Too bad you don't have a little snow back there to stimulate the holiday spirit! Keep warm and avoid drafts.

Looks like we're going to have rain, but can see snow in the mountains. Look for me in the stands at the Rose Parade.
