Old Fashioned Married Life

By Sydney Halet

When a girl marries,
How happy she is!
What’s hers is hers,
And so is what’s his!
She’ll cry and she’ll nag
To get her own way;
And when a man’s wrong,
She’ll have plenty to say!

His birthday’s remembered,
Hers is forgot!
His work is applauded,
Her work is not!
They argue and fight
‘bout bills and the kids,
They don’t talk for hours
Over something he did!

The kids get married
And leave them alone,
And she’s stuck with him
Away and at home!
They grow old together,
And both must confess
They’re warm, and they’re happy,
Wouldn’t settle for less!

Yes, when a girl marries,
How happy she is
Because he is hers,
And he’s happy he is.
