Ain’t It Somethin

By Claire Jean

We grow inch by inch long

Gain pound by pound strong

First crawl

Then walk

Babble

Then talk

Ain’t it somethin

We don’t know nothin

We’re taught ABCs

Learn about birds

Discover the bees

School gives a start

To show we’re smart

Ain’t it somethin

We don’t know nothin

We’re the best

We’re the worst

We’re a joy

We annoy

Ain’t it somethin

We don’t know nothin

We’re destined

For this

On the fast track for that

Headed to go

Where the money’s at

Now older and wiser

We’ve time to look back

Able to see what some lack

Those said the most

Oft time with great boast

Builders of power so tall

Said nothing at all

Ain’t it somethin

We don’t know nothin
